Jeff was born April 9, 1967 in Lapeer, Michigan to Ernest Arthur and Sharon Kollhoff.  His mother, Sharon, is the daughter of Judith Rae and Layton Mathews.

Jeff graduated from Lapeer East Hight School in 1985 after joining the Delayed Entry Program in 1985.  He attended boot camp in October 1985 at the Great Lakes facility near Chicago, Illinois.  He graduated from boot camp in December 1985.

After graduating boot camp, Jeff attended the ATD school bu he was only there one week when he was asked to volunteer for submarine service.  He volunteered, believing it was the quickest way out of Great Lakes.  It was the quickest way out, by five days.  He departed Great Lakes and headed for Basic Enlisted Submarine School in New London, CT.  He graduated Sub School in March 1986 and reported to USS JOHN C. CALHOUN (SSBN 630) as a Blue crew member.  As the boat was in the yards in Charleston, SC at the time, Jeff was assigned to Deck Divsion.

Jeff qualified in submarines to earn the coveted Dolphins in February 1987.  It was then that he decided to strike for the Quartermaster rating.  He attended Quartermaster School in Charleston in 1987 and was advanced to QM3(SS) in March 1989.

Jeff re-enlisted July 14, 1989 at the Charleston Airport and was married to Michelle Raymond on July 15th,  just one day later, in Lapeer, Michigan.

Jeff detached from the CALHOUN in November 1990 and reported to COMSUBLANT as SUBLANT QMOW where he also advnaced to QM2(SS) in July 1991.

Jeff and Michelle had their first child, Jeffery Junior on August 6, 1991.  Their daughter, Becky, was born September 7, 1992 (see what shore duty does to you?).

Jeff left COMSUBLANT in 1992 and reported aboard the USS OKLAHOMA CITY (SSN 723) in December.

Jeff left the Navy in 1995 and returned to his hometown of Lapeer, Michigan in Ocotber of 1995.  He quickly joined the active local reserve unit, where he very quickly was advanced to QM1(SS).   Jeff then left the active reserves in 2002 and went inactive until 2003.

In October 1995, Jeff was hired at Kamax L.P. as a thread roll operator.  In 2000, Jeff advanced to senior set - up operator and is now Foreman on the 3rd shift.
